This volume, edited by Giovanni Maria Fara, brings together a series of contributions that investigate different aspects of Vita di Marcantonio Bolognese, e d'altri intagliatori di stampe, published by Giorgio Vasari in 1568, with particular reference to its reception in Europe up to 1760. These contributions shed light on largely neglected parts of this fundamental text which deeply influenced the theoretical debate on engraving and collecting throughout the modern age.
