Laureato in Storia moderna all'Università di Bologna. Per circa quarant'anni è stato docente di materie letterarie nella scuola media superiore. Contemporanemente ha svolto ricerche sull'età del Rinascimento in ambito estense e pubblicato saggi e articoli. Ha partecipato a convegni e seminari presso il Centro Studi “Leon Battista Alberti” di Mantova (2001), l'Istituto di Studi Rinascimentali di Ferrara (2002 e 2004), il Centro di studi sul classicismo di Arezzo (2004), l'Università “La Sapienza” di Roma, Dipartimento di Italianistica (2005). Fra i suoi interessi il poeta Francesco Maria Molza, Leon Battista Alberti e Ferrara, Lodovico Castelvetro e la Riforma.
