Devozione nella casa fiorentina del Rinascimento

The archives help to reconstruct the image of an intimate and private Florentine Renaissance, linked to the commission of small terracotta sculptures destined for prayer and meditation in daily life, or with an apotropaic significance. The international fortune of these works in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries is also measured through the activity of antiquarians such as Stefano Bardini and Elia Volpi, scholars such as Henry Cole, John Charles Robinson and Wilhelm von Bode, and collectors like Herbert Percy Horne, Charles Loeser, Hortense Mitchell and Arthur Acton.
