The volume is a collection of the proceedings of the study day on the figure and work of Niccolò Rodolico (1873-1969) on the 50th anniversary of his death. From the early 20th century to the years immediately after World War II, Rodolico – Sicilian by birth and Florentine by adoption - was a leading Italian historiographer. His historical works, which spanned from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, were complemented by his activities as a publicist, his interest in school teaching and in the organization of public archives, and his role in the cultural institutions of Fascism and Republican Italy. The Appendix contains materials from the exhibition “Una lunga giornata di lavoro. Niccolò Rodolico 1873-1969”, held at the Biblioteca Riccardiana in Florence.
