From the Thirteenth century to the first decades of the Fifteenth, the Spinis were one of the most important families of the Florentine oligarchy. The rise of the Medicean supremacy coincided with their decline, analysed in this book through first-hand research. This essay focuses in particular on the study of which elements caused the extinction of some branches of the family, and which could lead it instead to a new rise.

Claudia Tripodi (Firenze, 1972), dottore di ricerca in Storia Medievale, diplomata in Archivistica, Paleografia e Diplomatica alla Scuola dell’ Archivio di Stato di Firenze, assegnista presso l’Universita di Firenze, si occupa di storia sociale fiorentina del Tre-Quattrocento con particolare riguardo alla storia della famiglia e ai percorsi di mobilità sociale. Alcuni suoi saggi sono pubblicati sulle riviste Archivio Storico Italiano, Melanges de l’Ecole Francaise, Ricerche Storiche.
