This volume brings together a selection from the papers presented at the inaugural conference of the European Society for the History of Political Thought, held at the European University Institute in Florence (6-7 July 2009). It forms a small and partial testimony of the Society’s beginnings, nevertheless its contents, in their diversity, remind us of how long, rich and creative the heritage of European political ideas has been.
