Divided into four parts and supported by a wealth of images, the volume intends to illustrate the various aspects of Florentine literary culture. The result is a lively and contradictory picture, where at least four different notions of poetry face each other: poetry as a cult of humanistic values and love of classical antiquity; poetry as an aesthetic demonstration of beauty; poetry as a vivid expressionist fragment; poetry as an acrobatic game.
