Bruno Maderna’s long-lost Requiem (1946) is the topic of a musicological ‘exhumation’ that, along with a facsimile of the manuscript, relates its discovery in America in 2006 and reconstructs its genesis. Scored for four solo voices, double choir and large orchestra, Maderna’s Requiem is undoubtedly an important contribution to the artistic biography of this great Venetian composer and a significant addition to the repertoire of 20th Century symphonic-choral music.
