This volume gathers the memoirs presented at the conference on Giordano Riccati (Venice, October 2010). Riccati’s most outstanding feature is the variety of his intellectual interests. He published treatises on mathematics, architecture, acoustics, history and metaphysics, but many letters and manuscripts show his versatile thought too. In accordance with Riccati’s approach, the central thread of these essays is the search for a common method of investigation in different fields of knowledge.
