The first Italian-Latin dictionary, known to date, work of the diplomat Tranchedini, ‘ducal orator’ employed by Francesco Sforza. The repertory, with general lexical ambitions, enumerates a rich word list and an important Latin section. Into the folds of aulic culture penetrate daily expressions, fruit of an outspoken choice of words, that doesn’t exclude a harsh explicitness. Numerous too are the vulgarisms that can be backdated in some cases by several centuries.
