Arcadia Felice

L’«Arcadia Felice» (1605), work of the Venetian authoress Lucrezia Marinella, is the only Italian Baroque pastoral novel. Relates Emperor Diocleziano taking possession of Arcadia following his abdication. The outcome is a synthesis between a humanistic and moral rendering story and the plot of a 17th century European novel.

Il raconte l’accueil de l’empereur Dioclétien par les bergers d’Arcadie, après son abdication. Il opère une synthèse réussie entre une veine humaniste historique et morale et les intrigues du roman baroque européen.
