This volume was conceived for the fourth centenary of the death of Francis de Sales to reflect on his cultural legacy. His action as bishop, spiritual director, political adviser, promoter of religious orders and animator of faith experiences between the 16th and 17th centuries extended across the Duchy of Savoy and France. His multifaceted personality allowed him to become an inspirational model far beyond the chronological and geographical limits of his life, projecting his long-term influence over the entire Catholic world, most notably on Don Bosco’s religious experience in the mid-nineteenth century.
