Sogni fatti in Sicilia
Pirandello, Brancati, Sciascia

The book starts from the short story La realtà del sogno in which Pirandello, with an implied reference to Pascal, poses the theme of the ambivalence between waking and dreaming that characterises great texts of his maturity. Even in the early Brancati, the dream is often confused with reality, but he then overcomes Pirandello's absurdity in the name of realism, arriving at a Christian conception of life. Sciascia follows in their footsteps, whose work here emphasises the historical-literary and poetic quality of a constant oneiric dimension that is articulated around the classical image of man as the 'dream of a shadow'.

Giuseppe Savoca
Giuseppe Savoca, professore emerito a Catania, ha pubblicato monografie e studi sul Settecento, Leopardi, Parini, Verga, Tozzi, Gozzano, Svevo, Palazzeschi, Montale, Ungaretti, Rebora, Saba, e altri. L’approfondimento dei problemi ermeneutici in direzione linguistica e filologica lo ha portato all’elaborazione di un originale modello di concordanza computerizzata (a suo nome presso Olschki, nella collana «Strumenti di Lessicografia Letteraria Italiana» da lui fondata, sono uscite una trentina di concordanze, comprese quelle delle poesie e traduzioni ungarettiane, alle quali si affianca un Vocabolario della poesia italiana del Novecento, Zanichelli, 1995). Per Olschki dirige inoltre «Polinnia» in cui ha pubblicato, tra l’altro, l’edizione critica del Canzoniere di Petrarca. - (luglio 2019) -
