Il romanzo familiare di Pierfrancesco Leopardi

Raffaele Urraro has penned a complex “family novel” in which the protagonist is Pierfrancesco Leopardi, Giacomo's younger brother. The book outlines the characters traits and personality of the members of his family: his wife, Cleofe Ferretti, a poignantly tragic character, portrayed by the author through her difficult and dramatic relationship with his mother-in-law Adelaide Antici; and his children, Giacomo in particular, who went to great lengths to ensure the recovery and conservation of his uncle's manuscripts. The figure of the Poet, however, looms in the background, a silent witness to the events that the author reconstructed using all the documentation available.

Raffaele Urraro
Raffaele Urraro è nato e vive a San Giuseppe Vesuviano. Laureato in Lettere Classiche presso l’Università di Napoli «Federico II», dove ebbe maestri Salvatore Battaglia e Francesco Arnaldi, si è dedicato all’insegnamento di italiano e latino nei licei.
Giornalista pubblicista, collabora come redattore alla rivista di letteratura e arte «Secondo Tempo» diretta da Alessandro Carandente. Oltre a numerose pubblicazioni di poesia e di saggistica, ha prodotto, in collaborazione con Giuseppe Casillo, molte antologie di classici latini per le Scuole Superiori (Loffredo, Napoli) e una storia della letteratura latina in 3 volumi (Poeti e scrittori latini, Bulgarini, Firenze). Presso l’editore Olschki ha pubblicato “Questa maledetta vita”. Il “romanzo autobiografico” di Giacomo Leopardi (2015) e Il romanzo familiare di Pierfrancesco Leopardi (2020). - (febbraio 2024) -
