The main theme of this book is Vasari’s complex biographical and self-fashioning memory machine set up by the author himself through three ‘objects of memory’ closely related to each other: his archive, his home in Arezzo, his inheritance. The long and resolute protection of Vasari’s heritage stems indeed from the acknowledgement of the inseparable relationship between the artist’s house and his archive.
