The essays collected in this volume analyze the work of Bernardino Lanino in the field of portrait, from the Portrait of Cassiano Dal Pozzo, the meaning of which is disclosed through the interpretation of its emblems, to the Mars and Venus in the Petit Palais, that would hide a wedding portrait of Emanuele Filiberto of Savoia and his wife Marguerite. The book is completed by a chronological catalogue of Lanino’s works.

Francesco Giambonini
Francesco Giambonini (Lugano 1945- 2011) si è formato alla scuola di Giovanni Pozzi all’Università di Friburgo. Per la Casa editrice Olschki ha curato l’edizione delle Lettere di Giovanni Dalle Celle e Luigi Marsili (1991) e la Bibliografia delle opere a stampa di Giambattista Marino (2000).
