The volume presents a new edition of the corpus of Campanella’s letters, which revises and completes the one edited by Vincenzo Spampanato in 1927. Distributed, though unevenly, throughout the course of his life, the collection of letters appears diversified in terms of content, breadth, and expressive style – but each letter, whether it be a memorial to the pope, a scientific pamphlet, a dedication or a meagre note, contributes to delineating the author’s portrait.
