The rich documentation of this archive allows to reconstruct the political and social history of a territory much more extensive than that included within the geographic borders of the present municipality and to understand important aspects of Tuscan history starting from the age of city-states. The inventory is preceded by a historical-institutional introduction which reconstructs the succession of local administrations and provides presentations of the single series as well as detailed descriptions of single archival units.
