The volume comprises an introductory essay of institutional history on the formation of the Province of Florence and research which provides general information on the election of the council which was formerly departmental then provincial from 1860 to 1995, the composition of the Giunta and the provincial council and finally the biographical records of the presidents of the Province of Florence up to 1943. The introductory essay follows the course of the Province of Florence’s formation also as regards its duties and territorial environment beginning with the end of the fifteenth century up till 1870.
