Following an introduction this volume contains the critical edition of the Menandri Sententiae, gnomic collections in circulation from Roman times to the Renaissance. Completing his ten-year studies on the subject, the author offers a new approach, different from previous editions, by providing – beside the texts of the Medieval mss. – a separate edition of the «Compilations» (Gregorius, Maximus Planudes, George Hermonymous), the monostichs found in papyri as well as in Arabic and Slavic translations, and an alphabetical list of all the monostichs edited.
