At the origins of modern Europe the terminology of culture is a common patrimony that originates from Classical and Medieval Latin and proves variously articulate when confronting the vulgar languages and constituting the special lexicons of national languages. Tullio Gregory’s researches indicate some fundamental principles of a translatio studiorum that marks the passage from the Middle Ages to modernity.
