The manuscript entitled «Judicium de tolerantia Judaeorum in re publica christiana» essentially restates the main points of the European debate concerning the «Jewish Question» in modern times. The author’s autobiography, published as an appendix, is a significant source for explaining how an early eighteenth-century Christian intellectual could be led to take an interest in Jewish studies. Both texts are placed within the larger framework of European-wide Hebraica scholarship.
