The author examines a series of texts by various authors who have consciously focused on women, the family and love, chiefly between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Included in his methodology is a close examination of the main types of sources, which range from the rich literature produced by ecclesiastical writers to humanistic texts and the memorialist style which emerged from the business-oriented Tuscan bourgeoisie.
