On the measurement of running water
A facsimile edition of «Della misura delle acque correnti» of Dom Benedetto Castelli

The continuity principle, still central to all modern hydraulics, was first advertised in 1628 by Benedetto Castelli in his book entitled «On running waters». This book provides a complete facsimile of the first edition of Castelli's book, together with an English translation of the work (the first since 1661) on facing pages. There is also a biography of Castelli, and notes on the technical issues raised by Castelli's text.
