This highlights the characteristics of a small Tuscan town in the mid 15th century, starting from the political institutions and active social groups. An analysis of the communal system is supported by prosopographical research on the principal families of Sansepolcro and their presence not only in the Commune but also in religious gatherings, those confraternities favoured by late Medieval sociality.
