This essay deals with the reception of chemical revolution in the Italian geopolitical world and produces a general synthesis on the state of Italian chemistry up to the 18th century and the reaction of Italian chemists towards Lavoisier’s doctrine. This range of reactions demonstrates how in the chemical revolution there were not only those in favour and those against Lavoisier but moreover a group of positions linked together by different views chemists had of their own discipline.
