This book focuses in a long and detailed «Introduzione» on the theatrical works based on Manzoni’s novel (9 covering the years 1827-1900 and 10 concerning the years 1902-1985). The «Bibliography» emphasizes the difficult availability of such works. The «Antologia» points to underline the scenes eliminated in the adaptations, the scenes maintained but deeply transformed on theatrical or moral grounds, and the episodes which offer new developments with unknown characters or encounters.
