Together a musicologist and an italianist have recuperated the 'corpus' of the Serafinian rhymes, distinguishing the few hundred authentic ones from the spurious ones. Twenty-nine compositions, nearly all strambottoes, were set to music: of which the volume provides the commentated critical edition; the variations are expressed with a system of synoptic notations which renders them immediately enjoyable to the reader and the executor.
