It was the young prodigy G.F. Loredan who, with his works, broke the literary silence of the Lagoon, from 1630 to 1661 by establishing the Accademia in his mansion. At least 295 literary people became part of the circle and gave impetus to printing and trade with European booksellers; they contributed to republican and antipapal propaganda supporting the need for greater freedom of the press.
