The volume A libro aperto, resulting from the successful combination of the idea of exhibition-workshop and the international conference format, puts the spotlight on the concept of “book exhibition”, investigating its characteristics, history and purpose. It brings to the fore the need not only to preserve and to make available book materials, but also to allow for their display. Thus, the cultural heritage leaves the shelves to make itself visible and understandable, to be admired by the public – becoming even more relevant by virtue of its capacity to interact with digital resources that can contribute to enhancing its value and making it more readily accessible.
