The volume presents the Proceedings of two international conferences dedicated to the language of painting by Leonardo da Vinci on the occasion of the fifth centenary of his death. The contributions range from figurative work to writings, identifying in the lexicon the common thread and the ground for comparison of different disciplines (history of art and restoration, philology and history of language): the dialogue that thus develops, between artistic technique and denomination, involves the circulation of shapes and models in the previous and subsequent tradition, from medieval recipe books to the treatises of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, between Italy and France.
Margherita Quaglino
Margherita Quaglino è ricercatrice a tempo determinato e docente di Storia della lingua italiana presso il Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici dell’Università di Torino. Ha pubblicato saggi su poesia e prosa del Novecento (Caproni, Pavese, Fenoglio); sul lessico della cucina tra Otto e Novecento; sulla lingua dell’ottica antica, con particolare riferimento agli autografi di Leonardo da Vinci; sta curando l’edizione di un volgarizzamento trecentesco del De aspectibus di Alhazen. Gli studi sul senese antico, sulla questione della lingua e sulla fortuna della Commedia nel Cinquecento sono confluiti nel volume: «Pur anco questa lingua vive e verzica» (Firenze, 2011).
