This volume is part of the Italian tradition of annals of typography to which Dennis E. Rhodes (1923-2020) contributed extensively. The work provides an overview of the typographical production of various Italian towns in the regions of Abruzzo, Marche and Umbria (Ascoli Piceno, Camerino, Campli, Chieti, Fermo, Jesi, Montalto Marche, Spoleto, Teramo), from the introduction of printing to the end of the seventeenth century. The list comprises 501 entries compiled according to the rules of descriptive bibliography.
Dennis E. Rhodes
Dennis Everard Rhodes (1923–2020), laureato a Cambridge presso il Sidney Sussex College, lavorò a lungo presso il Department of Printed Books della British Library (già British Museum). Dedicò gran parte dei suoi numerosissimi studi e cataloghi al libro italiano dalle origini al XVII secolo pubblicando, tra l’altro, il Catalogue of Incunabula in all the Libraries of Oxford University outside the Bodleian (1982), lo Short-Title Catalogue of Books printed in Italy … 1465–1600 now in the British Library: Supplement (1986), i tre volume del Catalogue of Seventeenth Century Italian Books in the British Library (1986) e le importanti monografie sulla stampa a Viterbo (1963), Treviso (1983) e Firenze (1988), e sugli stampatori Fei di Roma e Bracciano (2019). Nel 2001 curò il Catalogo del fondo libraio antico della Fondazione Giorgio Cini.
