The publication of this volume completes the part of the corpus regarding sententious literature (see CPF II.2: Sentenze di autori noti e «chreiai», 2015). All the texts published here are new and extensively commentated editions of gnomologies and gnomic anthologies; in addition to this type of text, there are also individual sayings, transmitted by scholastic works. The result is a general overview of the authors who, in the field of moralistic subjects, were read in antiquity as part of cultural, professional and, above all, rhetorical training.
