To date, this is the most complete biography of Angelo Claudio Tolomei – humanist, philologist, poet, clergyman and diplomat – who was born in Asciano (Siena) around 1492 and died in Rome on 23 March 1556. The book, edited and introduced by Luigi Oliveto, is an anastatic reprint of the one published in 1939 by the Accademia per le Arti e per le Lettere in Siena. With scrupulous biographical and archival research, this work finally offers us the portrait of a figure unknown to most readers.
