Pierre Souffrin (1935-2002) decided to leave his successful researches in astrophysics to reflect on questions such as “which science?” and “why this science?”, that led him to study the classical and medieval traditions from which originated modern science. This volume revisits the themes of his research, not as a homage to the memory of a great scholar, but as a way to relaunch his scientific and personal bequest.

Romano Nanni è direttore della Biblioteca Leonardiana e del Museo Leonardiano di Vinci. Svolge attività di ricerca sulla cultura filosofica e tecnico-scientifica del Rinascimento, anche nei suoi nessi con la cultura artistica, e sulla sua ricezione nel XIX-XX secolo. Ha pubblicato studi sulla tradizione ovidiana medievale e rinascimentale, su Brunelleschi, Poliziano, Leonardo, Galilei, Bacon.
