The volume is devoted to the library of one of the first humanists, Sozomenus of Pistoia, constituted above all by Latin and Greek classics – many of which autograph – intended for public use and now dispersed in libraries across Europe. The 86 entries, which detail the material aspects, contents and dispersion of the manuscripts, are supplemented by a foreword by Stefano Zamponi, a codicological-palaeographic essay, the new edition of the inventory, an essay by David Speranzi on Greek codices, indexes and 120 plates.
