The essays here gathered merge three socio-cultural elements that are impossible to separate in historical reality, but that have been scarcely analysed in their mutual relations by the historians of art, architecture, and literature. These elements are epitomized by three keywords that run through the book as a leitmotiv: «architecture», «antiquity», and «identity». The aim of all these essays is to discover how local architectural identity is shaped.
