In 1979 François Bovon invited the cardinal Pellegrino to keep a series of lessons at the Faculty of Protestant Theology of the University of Geneva. In his course, the cardinal brilliantly examined the idea of «the People of God» according to the Church Fathers, with the accuracy of the philologist, the commitment of the minister, and the ecumenical vision of a Catholic Church renewed after the Second Vatican Council.

Invité en 1979 par François Bovon à tenir une série de conférences à la Faculté de théologie protestante de l’Université de Genève, le cardinal Pellegrino examine brillamment l’idée d’un «peuple de Dieu» parmi les Pères de l’Église, avec la rigueur d’un philologue, l’engagement d’un pasteur et la vision œcuménique d’une Église renouvelée par le Concile Vatican II.
