This volume analyses the development of the myth of Tibet and documents important aspects of contemporary Tibetan culture. It is dedicated to those Tibetans who have resisted the Chinese occupation, by rebuilding the temples destroyed by the Red Guards and preserving their traditions. The contributions collected in this book are the result of field-work carried out by Italian scholars, researchers and project managers, whose work is hardly known in Italy.
