The commitment to put in a historical perspective the figure of Dallapiccola – one of the few Italian composers of international standing of the Twentieth century – led to a thorough research into his rich epistolary archive. The survey, limited to the youth of the Maestro (1904 - 1975), “peeled the onion” (a metaphor by Günter Grass) of a historical period, and of a human and artistic experience, both troubled and meaningful.
