The French Institute in Florence, the first cultural institution of a country abroad, was founded in 1907. In its motivations, designed to create institutionally exchanges between French and Italian cultures, it represented the first step towards the creation of UNESCO. The volume presents the Proceedings of the Conference organized to review its objectives, previous and present, in the context of relations between France and Italy.
