This volume focuses on the relationship between microscope makers and their users. Starting with the history of the instruments and the workshops, experimental practices and quantitative, philological and rhetorical analysis, a series of case-studies reconstructs the history of microscopes, their markets and usage during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Dario Generali ha concentrato le sue ricerche sulla circolazione del sapere attraverso i periodici eruditi e i carteggi, sull’ecdotica del testo scientifico d’età moderna, sull’illustrazione del dibattito relativo alle scienze naturalistiche e della vita nell’Italia fra Sei e Settecento, sui modelli storiografici della scienza. È autore di un’ampia produzione editoriale su questi argomenti ed è coordinatore scientifico dell’Edizione Nazionale delle Opere di Antonio Vallisneri, che ha sede presso l’ISPF-CNR. - (giugno 2013) -
