Mazzini e Linton
Una democrazia europea (1845-1855)

W.J. Linton, an English Chartist, published the Manifesto to the Peoples of Europe in the first issue of the «The English Republic» review. This journal, published in London from 1851 to 1855, outlines both the diffusion of Mazzini’s democratic idea of a party of action for «European Democracy» and the debate arising in those years between the republican principle of a representative government and the communist ideology of a proletarian one.
