The Hebrew Republic was one of the models for Political Thought in the XVI century. The aim of this book is to reconstruct the origin of this interest, showing that some authors, (Bodin, Bertram and Sigonio), have used the Jewish tradition in an ideological way, in order to legitimize their different political tasks. Carlo Sigonio, in particular, wrote about the Jewish political institutions, modelling them on his Aristotelian ideas of a state governed by the law and the aristocracy.
