Cappelle musicali fra Corte, Stato e Chiesa nell’Italia del Rinascimento

Music chapels were important institutions representing civic and seigneurial power and were aimed at enhancing religious practice in the Italian city-states and courts during the early Modern Age. These essays focus on the nature of the music chapel, which is extensively historical-institutional and strictly musicological. The approach is multidisciplinary, wide-ranging geographically and structured into distinct types (city chapel, court chapel, state chapel) that share the same function: being an instrument of authority and a means of communication of the Renaissance elite.

Gabriella Biagi Ravenni
Gabriella Biagi Ravenni, Professore associato di Musicologia presso l’Università di Pisa, ha sviluppato nel corso degli anni vari ambiti di ricerca, in particolare la musica vocale, con attenzione al rapporto testo-musica, e la storia delle istituzioni. Nel 1996 ha partecipato alla fondazione del Centro studi Giacomo Puccini, del quale è Presidente dal 2007, e membro del Comitato scientifico. Fa parte della Commissione scientifica dell’Edizione Nazionale delle Opere di Giacomo Puccini, istituita dal Ministero per i beni e le attività culturali nel 2007, nell’ambito della quale coordina il Comitato per l’edizione dell’Epistolario.
