Ambrogio Catarino Politi (1484-1553)

A new perspective on the sixteenth-century religious crisis in Italy and Europe offered by the biographical and intellectual profile of jurist Lancellotto Politi from Siena. He entered the Dominican order in 1517 under the name of Ambrogio Catarino, decided to follow Savonarola, started his career as a controversialist, was in conflict with the Order itself, had contacts with the Italian Spirituals, participated in the discussions of the Council of Trent. A wealth of published and unpublished documentation covers the major events of his life.
