Moving on from Innocent Gentillet’s comparison between Machiavelli and Bartolous of Sassoferrato in his Contre Machiavel (1576) – and contrary to his invitation to suspend further investigation into the matter – Cavallar, Barthas and Najemy approach it from a different angle rather than the traditional one of political realism.
