The taste for baroque decoration also spread to Florence, particularly to the interiors of the palaces of the aristocracy. The present volume, actually the catalogue of an exhibition at the Palazzo Medici Riccardi, presents a cross section of the activities of the great masters who executed the Riccardi’s commissions and describes their tastes and collecting policies, beginning with a re-reading of Luca Giordano’s pictorial texts to the early 18th century.
