This is the first of a projected 5-volume catalogue of the prestigious book collection assembled by the great historian of political thought Luigi Firpo (1915-1989). It consists of works in the fields of history, politics, literature, philosophy, religion and geography (including manuals and memoirs) published in Europe between from fifteenth century to the early 1800s. The collection, now the property of the Italian state and housed in the Fondazione Luigi Firpo in Turin, is an important source for the study of early modern European culture and civilisation.
