This collective work is the fruit of an extensive research project on the history of agrarian education in the nineteenth century, and the emergence of new specialties in the service of agriculure. Economic, cultural and educational history are studied, and Italian agriculture is considered in its European context. The authors also trace the development of agricultural education and the creation of advanced professional schools designed to train specialists in the field of development.
